Matt joined the Army at the age of 17 and was a member of the 1st Battalion The Royal Welsh (RWF) for 9 years and reached the rank of Corporal. He served in many countries on tours Afghanistan, Falklands, Cyprus, Kenya, and India. His role in the Army was a section Commander, leading his men into battle, and he further completed many gruelling courses whilst in the Army SCBC, Reece Commanders course and Cambrian Patrol. IMatt considers himself lucky enough to also be a Military Co-Ordinator at MPCT Wrexham before he left the Army in 2014.

Matt joined MPCT in 2015 as the Centre Manager in Newport for 4 years where Ihe felt privileged to support many young learners to achieve their ambitions of joining the forces and many others to gain further education or employment.

He was promoted to the Regional Operations Manager South of England Region in 2019 and looks forward to continuing with his long-term career at MPCT.

Matt is currently developing his CPD and enrolled in a Level 6 Diploma in Career Guidance.

A very keen sportsman, Matt’s favourite sport is football and supports Manchester United. He also loves the great outdoors where he spends most of my time. Matt considers himself a keen family man to his wife, Vicky, and his two children, Honey and Teddy.

Date started at MPCT 06/01/2015 Experience

Chris was born in Eastbourne and went to School at Hampden Park School.

After leaving School and a couple of years in college on a Public services course Chris went and Joined the Army.
He joined an Infantry Battalion the Princess of Wales Royal Regiment where he spent 5 years, and completed two 6 month tours in Kosovo and Fire fighting duties in Northern Ireland during the fireman strikes.

After leaving the Army Chris then went onto completing a Close protection course and started to work In Iraq as a close protection officer for the British Embassy in Basra Iraq.
After 4 years in that position he then went on to work Security for BP oil company in the Basra oilfields as a security Manager, training local Iraqis in security and providing Security Management and protection to BP clients living and working on oil rigs.

Chris spent 7 years years working abroad and then made the change to move back to Eastbourne, where he then began working with MPCT.

Date started at MPCT July 2021 Experience

Born in Portsmouth and raised in a Naval family it was inevitable that Mathew would join the Royal Navy. He began his career in the first Officer entry of the 21st century in January 2000 and graduated from Brittania Royal Naval College in December of the same year, joining the Fleet as a Warfare Officer.

Initial professional training was undertaken on the destroyer HMS NOTTINGHAM during her operational sea training period in UK waters. Specialist navigational training was subsequently conducted on the minehunter HMS CATTISTOCK during a deployment from Portsmouth to the Arabian Gulf as part of mine countermeasures task force in support of EX SAIF SAREEA off the coast of Oman. Additional navigational experience was also gained with the Gibraltar Squadron before successfully passing the Junior Warfare Officers Course, which entitled him to conduct a bridge watch on any RN surface ship.
Seeking further adventure, he volunteered for submarine service and in September 2002 started his training before joining the SSBN, HMS VICTORIOUS. During 2004 and 2005 he was awarded his ‘dolphins’ and deployed on four deterrent operations before retiring from regular service to marry.

Missing the cut and thrust of military life Mathew joined the Royal Navy Reserve in 2010 as a Maritime Intelligence officer. On completion of specialist training, he deployed on OP ELLAMY in a J2 role in support of NATO operations in Libya spending six months at NATO JFHQ in Naples. On his return he was recruited to design and deliver training for reservists joining the Maritime Intelligence specialisation. During 2016 and 2017 he was employed at the Maritime Information Fusion Centre where he ran the Mediterranean desk supporting RN deployed assets in that region before being appointed 2i/c of the cell. He remains a Reservist.

Mathew lives in Eastbourne with his wife and young daughter. He enjoys being outdoors and particularly enjoys strenuous activities on the beach and downs, plays a reasonable guitar and loves a game of backgammon.

Date started at MPCT Nov 2018 Experience

I Enjoyed my time with the 1st battalion PWRR from 2000 to 2006 where I gained valuable military and life experience, which I will now be passing on to young learners. I also like staying fit which is a big part of MPCT.
